Time is the one thing you can’t get back, and you can’t buy enough of. More importantly, you don’t want to miss out on booking the photographer that catches your eye or that breathtaking venue all because you waited too long to book your wedding vendors. Most brides book us a year in advance, so if you’re thinking that’s too soon, don’t underestimate your planning timeline.

One of the main and most important reasons for booking early is you give yourself the opportunity to meet with different wedding vendors and determine which ones resonate with your expectations in terms of superior service and quality offerings.

Whenever you rush into anything, you rob yourself of the opportunity to identify common red flags that could ruin your big day!

2. Time for the engagement session

The engagement session is the most telling experience through your wedding planning journey. Even if you think you may not need an engagement session, one of the main benefits of an engagement session is to have the opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before the BIG DAY. More importantly, this will also give you insight as to how well you and your spouse gel with with your photographer. When you’re ready to book your wedding photographer, be sure to schedule an engagement session to test the waters.

Planning a wedding is already stressful enough. Why not check one thing off your list? When you’ve meet with different vendors and paid close attention to their responsiveness in terms of returning your calls/emails, sharing excitement of your day and providing clear communication, you can be confident in your your purchase. 

4. Limited time

As mentioned earlier in this post, many brides think they have plenty of time to book their wedding vendors. In my latest article on what to look for when you’re ready to book your wedding makeup artist, many makeup artist mentioned their booking time was anywhere from a few months to 1 year, photographer and videographers are typically booked 1 to 1.5 years in advance and the most popular venues are booked 1 – 2 years in advance.

The worst feeling is having to settle. You wouldn’t do this during your dating years so definitely don’t settle for your wedding 🙂 .

5. Cost Savings

When we say cost savings, we’re not necessarily referring to discounts, although that can be a form of a savings as well. When you book your wedding photographer, you’re also locking in the quoted price and all the features of your collection.
